Officials, Industry Experts, UT President to Participate in Energy Innovation Workshop

Top officials from the U.S. Department of Energy, Oak Ridge National Laboratory and the University of Tennessee System will join elected and industry officials to discuss the potential economic benefits of innovation in the energy sector in the Southeast during a workshop co-hosted by the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and ORNL.

The event takes place Monday, May 23 at The Chattanoogan Hotel, 1201 Broad St., in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

Penelists will include U.S. Rep. Chuck Fleischmann, 3rd District of Tennessee; Thom Mason, director, Oak Ridge National Laboratory; and Joe DiPietro, president, UT System.

Panel discussions will focus on how private and public sector efforts can grow and how new initiatives can create stronger regional collaborations to advance clean energy technologies and applications.

Members of the media are invited to speak with selected panelists 10-10:30 a.m. Monday, before the workshop begins.
