Governor Names President DiPietro to Higher Ed Working Group

Category: Announcements

Gov. Bill Haslam has appointed UT Knoxville alumnus Randy Boyd as a special advisor to the governor for higher education. Boyd will consult with a working group appointed by the governor that includes UT System President Joe DiPietro, Tennessee Higher Education Commission Executive Director Rich Rhoda and Tennessee Board of Regents Chancellor John Morgan.

“This is an exciting and challenging time for higher education in our state and nationally, and it is great to see the governor’s continued focus on higher education. In keeping with our tradition, we will continue to gain broad input from a wide array of constituents as we study and make decisions about how to best deliver education to the people of our state in a way that is cost effective and maintains quality and access,” DiPietro said.

“I look forward to working with Randy Boyd, who has been very involved in the University of Tennessee as both a UT Knoxville alumnus and successful executive. I believe this working group the governor has formed will be able to help move our state forward because we have already set a good foundation with the Complete College Tennessee Act and the UT System Strategic Plan, both of which address the need for turning out more graduates who will make an impact in Tennessee as skilled workers and educated citizens.”
