“We Are One,” a video capturing the statewide but united nature of the University of Tennessee system, took top honors at the 2017 Tennessee College Public Relations Association Awards.
Produced by the UT Office of Communications and Marketing, the video received a “gold award” in the annual competition to celebrate the best in public relations from Tennessee higher education.
Jennifer Sicking, UT assistant director of media relations, composed an original poem that serves as the script for the video, which was filmed and edited by Adam Brimer, UT senior visuals producer. It was created for presentation at the UT president’s annual “State of the University” address earlier this year.
The team also received three bronze-level awards for its work this past year.
Ellie Amador, assistant director of communications, received a bronze-level award for her work on the University’s “My Campus Student Experience Survey” campaign, its first initiative to assess student views and perceptions of campus life.
The UT President’s Annual Report and the planning and execution of the UT president’s State of the University address received bronze-level awards.
“We bring our best efforts to what we do every day, and recognition of our work by peers and colleagues is a bonus,” said Gina Stafford, assistant vice president and director of communications. “We’re pleased anytime the work we do on behalf of the University earns recognition.”
The Tennessee College Public Relations Association was formed in 1975 and is an alliance of communication professionals who represent college and universities, public and private, two-year technical schools, technology centers and community colleges that define higher education in Tennessee.
