KNOXVILLE – The University of Tennessee Board of Trustees will hold a special meeting at 3:30 p.m. EST/2:30 p.m. CST on Dec. 9.
Following continued guidance by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) regarding COVID-19 and in compliance with the Tennessee Pledge and local guidelines, the meeting will be held virtually with all Board members participating electronically or by telephone. Interested individuals are encouraged to watch the meeting online. The meeting will be webcast live and archived for later viewing; a link to the webcast will be available at tennessee.edu.

- Appointment of Carey Whitworth as vice president of government relations and advocacy
- Reduction in UT Knoxville Spring 2021 housing rates
- Revisions to the Board Policies Governing Academic Freedom, Responsibility and Tenure
- Potential acquisition of Martin Methodist College

The Board’s Standing Rule Governing Requests to Address the Board has been extended to provide an opportunity to address the Board as to matters on the agenda for the special meeting. Requests will be accepted until 5 p.m. EST on Monday, Dec. 7. While the Board’s Standing Rule will apply, given the current environment regarding COVID-19, accommodations will be granted to allow for remote participation by scheduled speakers.
