On July 1, a new state law takes effect that allows Tennessee’s public colleges and universities’ full-time faculty and staff, who have handgun-carry permits, to carry handguns on campus. To implement the changes, UT has adopted a new safety policy, which also takes effect July 1.
The new regulations mean that most employees paid less than $47,476 a year will become non-exempt Dec. 1, 2016.
The U.S. Department of Labor proposed in June 2015 that overtime pay be required for all employees paid less than $50,440 a year.
