UTHSC’s Center for Addiction Science Recognized as First Addiction Medicine Center of Excellence in the Country

The Center for Addiction Science was founded to address the untreated addiction epidemic, providing clinical treatment services across all demographics. The center is also training physicians to offer alternate forms of pain therapy to avoid over-prescription of opioids.

Hubble Telemedical, a start-up company launched by researchers at ORNL and UTHSC, was acquired by Welch Allyn in 2015. Now renamed RetinaVue Network, the idea will help diabetic patients worldwide with low-cost diagnostic vision screenings.

Innov865 Week Showcases Knoxville as a Startup Star

The University of Tennessee Research Foundation, Oak Ridge National Laboratory and other partners are joining together to present Innov865 Week from Sept. 19–23. This observance is a week-long series of events showcasing Knoxville as a prime destination for new business startups and entrepreneurs. Activities kick off with the Kauffman Foundation’s Mayors Summit on Entrepreneurship on Monday, September 19, and end with the signature event, Startup Day, on Thursday, September 22.
