Thomas Zacharia, who built Oak Ridge National Laboratory into a global supercomputing power, has been selected as the laboratory’s next director by UT-Battelle.
Hubble Telemedical, a start-up company launched by researchers at ORNL and UTHSC, was acquired by Welch Allyn in 2015. Now renamed RetinaVue Network, the idea will help diabetic patients worldwide with low-cost diagnostic vision screenings.
Keppens, current head of the Department of Materials Science and Engineering in UT’s College of Engineering, takes over from George Pharr who is leaving for another university after the fall semester.
