2025 State of the University

Annual address to highlight UT’s progress, impact and vision for the future

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – University of Tennessee System President Randy Boyd will host his fifth State of the University Address on Thursday, Feb. 13, at noon CST/1 p.m. EST at the Embassy Suites in Murfreesboro (1200 Conference Center Blvd, Murfreesboro). The address will serve as the preamble to the Grand Challenges Summit, a two-day event exploring the innovative research and projects happening across the UT System in the areas of enhancing K-12 education, strengthening rural communities and tackling the pervasive issue of addiction.

Boyd will be joined by UT leadership to share updates on the University’s record-breaking enrollment, graduation rates, research advancements and financial growth. The event will also be streamed live at tennessee.edu.

With the theme “Driving Tennessee Forward through Education, Research, and Outreach,” this year’s address will celebrate milestones achieved across UT’s campuses and institutes while outlining the bold steps ahead to continue shaping the Greatest Decade in UT’s history. Boyd will highlight how UT is making a meaningful impact on students, communities and the state through its commitment to education, workforce development and innovation.

“As the state’s flagship public university system, UT exists to serve the people of Tennessee,” Boyd said. “From our record enrollment to our research that fuels the state’s economy, UT is stronger than ever, and we are committed to building a brighter future for all Tennesseans.”

The event is free and open to the public.
