WHAT: Dedication of the UT-ORNL Joint Institute for Neutron Sciences

WHO: Gov. Phil Bredesen, UT Interim President Jan Simek, UTK Chancellor Jimmy Cheek, and ORNL Director Thom Mason

WHEN: The program begins at 10 a.m., Friday, Dec. 3, 2010

WHERE: Oak Ridge National Laboratory, Joint Institute for Neutron Sciences, (Adjacent to the Spallation Neutron Source)

Gov. Phil Bredesen, in what is likely his final visit to ORNL as Governor of Tennessee, is scheduled to speak at the dedication of the University of Tennessee-ORNL Joint Institute for Neutron Sciences, the last of three state-funded joint institutes built at Oak Ridge National Laboratory.

A media availability will immediately follow the program.

ARRANGE TO ATTEND: Media who wish to attend should contact ORNL Communications & External Relations, (865) 574-4160, no later than 4 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 2, to obtain visitor clearance.

DIRECTIONS: Cleared media may go directly to the Joint Institute, located on the Oak Ridge Reservation near the Spallation Neutron Source.  From Pellissippi Parkway, take Bethel Valley Road. Once past the staffed vehicle entrance, turn right at the first traffic light (traffic light #3) toward the Spallation Neutron Source. Signs will indicate the media parking area.
