Tennessee colleges and universities are working together to address sexual assault and relationship violence through a statewide training event for campus employees Jan. 27-28 in Nashville.
Welch Allyn, Inc. has announced the acquisition of Hubble Telemedical, Inc., a privately held health care company founded by UT Health Science Center researcher Edward Chaum and ORNL researcher Kenneth Tobin, who developed a way to provide remote diabetic retinopathy screening and analysis in primary care doctors’ offices and other convenient settings.
Three UT campuses and institutes in Knoxville, Chattanooga and the statewide Institute of Agriculture earned the 2015 Carnegie Community Engagement Classification, which recognizes their collaboration with community organizations and partners.
President Obama announced that UT will lead the Institute for Advanced Composites Manufacturing Innovation, or IACMI, a $259 million public-private partnership. The Institute reflects a $70 million commitment from the US Department of Energy (DOE) and $189 million from IACMI’s partners.
Duane Miller, Van Vleet Professor and chair of the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the UT Health Science Center, and Mark Dean, Fisher Distinguished Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at UT Knoxville, were announced as fellows of the academy on Tuesday. Both fellows have been working through the UT Research Foundation to protect and promote their discoveries.
