Higher education and the University of Tennessee are critical to the state, even as Tennessee is currently experiencing a “tailwind” of prosperity, Gov. Bill Haslam told the UT Board of Trustees at its fall meeting Friday.
Four experienced leaders from inside and outside the University of Tennessee were recommended to executive positions by UT President Joe DiPietro and appointed by the UT Board of Trustees during its meeting today in Knoxville.
Hubble Telemedical, a start-up company launched by researchers at ORNL and UTHSC, was acquired by Welch Allyn in 2015. Now renamed RetinaVue Network, the idea will help diabetic patients worldwide with low-cost diagnostic vision screenings.
Financial expert and experienced higher education leader David Miller has been selected as the next chief financial officer of the University of Tennessee System. UT System President Joe DiPietro will recommend Miller’s election to the position by the UT Board of Trustees during its Oct. 13-14 meeting in Knoxville.
The meeting of the full board will begin at 1 p.m. (EDT) on Oct. 14 in Hollingsworth Auditorium and will be webcast live and archived for later viewing.
